ARRIVAL KOLKATA, EMBARKATION – SERAMPORE (L/D)
Arrive Kolkata in the morning and transfer to the jetty to embark the ship. Lunch onboard. Begin your journey sailing upstream seeing the iconic monuments as we sail past Kolkata and its iconic bridges to Serampore, an erstwhile Danish colony. Enjoy a walk in the old quarters to see the Danish Tavern, St. Olav's Church and other Danish heritage monuments. Dinner & overnight onboard Ganges Voyager |
DAY 2 |
SERAMPORE – BANSBERIA – BANDEL (B/L/D)
Today we sail to Bansberia, a quaint riverside village. Post breakfast enjoy a short walk to visit the Haneswari Temple, known for its unique Ratna architectural style of 12 minars. Return to ship and sail to Bandel, meaning port in Bengali was founded by Portuguese settlers. Post lunch we visit the Hooghly Imambara, a famous Shiya pilgrimage centre that provide housing for pilgrims as well as classrooms. Dinner & overnight onboard Ganges Voyager |
DAY 3 |
BANDEL – CHANDERNAGORE – BALLY – NAMKHANA (B/L/D)
Enjoying breakfast onboard sail to Chandernagore that was established as a French colony. Upon arrival explore the colonial buildings along the promenade, including the former French governor's residence, now converted into a museum that features items depicting life during that period. Also visit the Sacred Heart Church. Return to ship and sail to Bally. Depending upon tide timings sail to Namkhana, the gateway of the Sundarbans National Park, a World Heritage Site and the world’s largest delta mangrove forest. DAY 4 |
NAMKHANA – BHAGABATPUR – BALI (B/L/D)
Post breakfast visit the Bhagabatpur Island which is known for its crocodile project that has a hatchery and sanctuary of the estuarine crocodiles. Return to ship and sail further in the Sundarbans to Bali island. Dinner & overnight onboard Ganges Voyager |
DAY 5 |
BALI – SUDHANYAKHALI & DOBANKI (B/L/D)
After breakfast full day excursions by local boat to the Watchtowers of Sudhanyakhali and Dobanki. Sudhanyakhali is a vast habitat endowing possibilities of viewing a wide range of migratory and local birds. Dobanki offers a canopy walk at an elevation of 20 feet from the ground to reveal the riveting flora and fauna. Dinner & overnight onboard Ganges Voyager |
DAY 6 |
BALI – NETHIDOPANI – BALI (B/L/D)
Ride in a country boat after breakfast to visit the serene Nethidopani Watchtower and experience the spectacular nature of the surroundings. Return to the ship for lunch. Thereafter enjoy a walk in the village of Bali and interact with the villagers. Witness a tribal dance performance. Dinner & overnight onboard Ganges Voyager |
DAY 7 |
BALI DISEMBARK - KOLKATA (B/L/D)
Disembark after breakfast and transfer to the Kolkata airport or hotel (approx. 3-4 hrs drive depending upon road traffic conditions) for your onward journey. Important Note: The itinerary maybe readjusted due to local conditions and days of the week, in order to avoid closure of monuments/museums. Last minute sailing adjustments may also occur.
